CalPERS said Wednesday it will invest $500 million to buy real estate with a high-tech edge.
The new fund launched by the California Public Employees' Retirement System will be run by real estate manager GI Partners of Menlo Park. It will specialize in data centers, wired corporate campuses, Internet gateways and life science properties.
CalPERS has invested with GI Partners in a variety of funds since 2001.
