Benton, Ill. — Franklin County Treasurer John Gulley has announced that due to reasons beyond his control, Bank of America in Benton and West Frankfort will be unable to accept real estate tax payments this year.
“I recognize that having the ability to make real estate tax payments at local banks is a convenience to the taxpayers of Franklin County,” Gulley said.
“I regret that this service will not be available to customers of Bank of America in Benton and West Frankfort. However, taxpayers will still be able to make payments beginning Monday, June 4, at most other local banks, by mail, in person at the Franklin County Courthouse, or online at www.franklincountyil.org.”
Gulley said 2011 payable 2012 real estate tax bills will be mailed on Friday, June 1. Installment payments are due on Tuesday, July 10 and Monday, Sept. 10.
Taxpayers are reminded that there is a late payment penalty of 1.5 percent per month for installments not paid by the installment due dates.
If you have not received your tax bill by June 15 call the Treasurer’s Office at 438-7311.
If the bill you have received should go to someone else, please call or return the bill to the Treasurer’s Office alongwith the name and address of the new owner.
